If you're writing a paper, thesis, or conference submission and need system architecture diagrams, research workflows, or ablation pipelines that won't embarrass you in print, this is the draw.io wrapper to reach for. It layers academic publishing rules (grayscale policies, IEEE topology conventions, formula rendering, caption placement) on top of a sibling base skill that handles the actual draw.io CLI and Desktop export. The workflow is YAML first and fully offline. It won't create MCP configs or phone home. You get editable bundles with .drawio, .spec.yaml, and SVG by default, plus optional PNG or PDF if you have draw.io Desktop installed. The preflight checklist forces you to declare venue, figure type, and color policy before it generates anything, which actually saves time when you're replicating a figure from a reference paper or prepping camera ready artwork.
