This maps the full service delivery system behind user touchpoints, from what customers see down through employee actions, backend processes, and supporting infrastructure. You'd use it when coordinating multi-team products, diagnosing where services break down, or onboarding people to complex systems. It's more operationally focused than a journey map. The five swim lanes (physical evidence, user actions, frontstage, backstage, support) reveal where promises disconnect from capability and where handoffs create fragility. Best move is blueprinting existing state before future state, and keeping scope tight to a single scenario rather than trying to map everything at once.
