This connects Claude to your Metabase instance through its REST API, letting you search databases, explore tables, run native SQL queries, and generate visualizations without leaving the conversation. You can ask questions in natural language and have them translated into queries against your connected data sources, whether that's Postgres, MySQL, BigQuery, or any of the dozens of databases Metabase supports. Useful when you want to give Claude direct access to your analytics stack for ad-hoc data exploration, building dashboards on the fly, or letting it help write and debug SQL queries against real tables. Works with both self-hosted and Metabase Cloud instances over streamable HTTP.
Metabase is the easy, open-source way for everyone in your company to ask questions and learn from data.

The easiest way to get started with Metabase is to sign up for a free trial of Metabase Cloud.
You get expert support, backups, upgrades, an SMTP server, SSL certificate, SoC2 Type 2 security auditing, and more (plus your money goes toward improving a major open-source project). Check out our quick overview of cloud vs self-hosting. If you need to, you can always switch to self-hosting Metabase at any time (or vice versa).
