Connects Claude to the Smithery marketplace so you can search, install, and call tools from 100K+ integrations without leaving your conversation. The CLI wraps MCP server discovery and management with proper OAuth flows, credential handling, and token scoping for production use. Useful when you need GitHub, Slack, Jira, databases, or any external service and don't want to hardcode credentials or manually configure servers. The token policy system is thoughtful: you can scope by namespace, user metadata, and even specific tool names via regex, which matters if you're embedding this in a multi-tenant app. It's basically a package manager for AI capabilities, and the namespace model means you can separate dev and prod cleanly.
