Crossref Scholarly Data

Connects your MCP client to Crossref's database of 150 million scholarly works via four remote tools: search_works for keyword queries across articles and datasets, lookup_doi for fetching full metadata including references, search_journals for finding publications by name, and search_funders for locating research funding bodies. Runs as a hosted Apify Actor at a remote HTTP endpoint, so there's nothing to install locally. The underlying Crossref REST API is free and open, and the server handles rate limiting automatically. Reach for this when you need Claude or Cursor to pull citation data, verify DOIs, or build literature reviews without leaving the chat interface. Note that the Actor is marked deprecated on Apify, though the remote endpoint may still respond.
