Claude Code filters Nerd Font icons in the U+E000-U+F8FF range, which breaks most Powerline, Font Awesome, and Devicon glyphs in your Starship configs and shell prompts. This skill works around it with placeholder syntax like {{U+E0A0}} or {{nf-fa-star}} that auto-converts on write, plus scripts to search the icon database and identify what character you're looking at. Material Design icons in the supplementary PUA range work fine without placeholders. The hooks run automatically when you edit config files, so you write placeholders and get real Unicode. Honestly a bit of ceremony for what should just work, but if you maintain dotfiles with custom prompts it beats manually looking up codepoints.
