Step Parts

Connects Claude to the step.parts catalog so you can search for and download real STEP files of off-the-shelf parts instead of modeling placeholder geometry. Handles fuzzy searches for servos, motors, bearings, fasteners, and other catalog components, then fetches the canonical CAD file with checksum verification. The skill defaults to the hosted API at api.step.parts and includes a bundled Python downloader for deterministic retrieval. Honestly most useful when you're building assemblies that reference actual hardware and want the correct envelope and mounting holes rather than a sketch. Integrates with the cad-viewer skill to preview downloaded models immediately.
